I believe that this has happened to me. They made their initial report to the credit bureaus after I paid the account. I paid it in full in July of 2006, then it popped up on my report in August of 2006 as a collection but paid in full. It wasn’t on my report at all until Aug 2006. It first appeared after I paid it.

Since when they initially reported it, I wasn’t delinquent, is this legal? If not, can you please cite applicable law references?
