ri asked:
I am working on fixing current credit woes and I want to know if getting a second credit file is feasible, worth it, etc……
Ok let me post more details because I see that there is confusion regarding my question…….I mean a second credit profile, the companies that offer a unique 9 digit number that you are able to use instead of ss for credit purposes. They say its legal and I wanted feedback from people familiar with this process

what do you mean by second credit file? Do you mean another report to see if your repair work is helping? When you send letter reporting errors to the credit beaureaus they send you an updated report when the investigation is complete. Otherwise if you’ve only dealt with creditors, you should wait about 30 days after you’ve paid them, etc, and then send for another report to see if your scores have improved.
Just request the reports yourself from the experian, etc, if you have an agency do it, it will slightly ding your credit score. When you look it up yourself there is no consequence to your score for a lookup.
Now if you mean you want to get a blank slate on a new credit report, I don’t think that’s possible, I believe your credit history is filed by your social security number. You could probably try getting a new social security number I guess.
you can’t get a new brand ******** clean credit report becuase you messed up the one you have. you would have to get a new ssn and they just don’t hand those out.
No, it is not legal.
That number they are trying to sell you is used for other purposes than creating a new credit file over an existing one.
The company is trying to scam you.
What they are not telling you is that you could be facing a stiff fine and prison time for using it.
This is illegal.
