I filed my taxes today and included a 1099c form for a credit card debt of $10,107. Now that this debt is paid, how can I get the credit card company to remove this from my credit report so my credit score can go up. All of my bills are paid on time and I only have one debt left that is a positive on my report. My goal is to be debt free and buy a house this year.

I am a processor for a mortgage company and just passed my test to get my license for actually writing loans. I am trying to get a little more educated before I’m on my own. Every website I find is tips for buyers or offers courses for $175 a class. I just want some basic information on lending principles and proceudres.

For example, if the credit card company changes your account number and moves everything to a new account, does your credit report now say that the old account is closed and you just opened a new account? I’m trying to figure out if you lose your old credit history when you do this—-especially if this is an account you’ve had for a while, and therefore is one of your oldest accounts since alot of credit is based on how long you’ve had things.

I know having too many is not good for a person’s credit score and looks bad to those checking this credit. But not having any credit (such as cards) is not good either. So is it best to have more than one card?

I am new to US. have been here for 2 months. so, I don not have any credit cards. When I see my credit report, I cannot see my employment records. I came to know that only credit card companies update the employment records with Credit Bureau. The other option is for the individuals to update it directly with Credit Bureau. I am not sure how to do this.

I understand that credit score isn’t necessarily based on income but here’s my situation. I have about 16,000 in revolving debt with a 600 credit score. My yearly income has recently increased 10 fold which obviously improves my debt to income ratio. How long after this increase should I see improvements in my credit score and by how much. Also what triggers the credit bureaus that this increase in income has occurred?

My husband and I are buying a car jointly, but we don’t have great credit because we recently purchased a house and various things that made our credit take some big hits. Is there a particular score that they look for when you buy a car?

I’ve read that disputing anything that is bad on ones credit report, even if it is accurate, will most likely be removed. Is this true? How does disputing work?

We really need to upgrade to a bigger house. Recently our family expanded to 4 kids in a 3 bedroom house. Our credit hasn’t been the greatest, but in the past month we have taken care of any outstanding debt on our credit reports, caught up on our current house payment (we were one month behind), paid off half of our one credit card bill and will be timely on all payments, and are current on all other finances. How long will it take for our credit scores to start improving enough to qualify for a home loan?
